About The Asteroid No. 4
The Asteroid No.4 is an American shoegaze, dream-pop, and psychedelic band based in Northern California. Formed in Philadelphia in the late 1990s, the group has remained an active and influential presence in the modern psych scene, known for their prolific discography and immersive, guitar-driven live shows. Their music—often labeled “neo-psychedelic” or “shoegaze”—draws frequent comparisons to Ride, Spacemen 3, and Paisley Underground icons The Rain Parade, though the band has long since carved out a sound uniquely their own.
Since 2022, The Asteroid No.4 has released their 11th album (Tones of the Sparrow) on Club AC30 and their 12th (Several Shapes of Solar Flares) on Little Cloud Records, followed by a European tour that included a support slot for Slowdive. In 2024, they released a five-song EP on Silver Arrow Records, the label founded by Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes.
The band has spent the past two years touring throughout the U.S., supporting acts such as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Crowes, Beachwood Sparks, and The Ocean Blue. They’ve released their 13th full-length album, In Praise of Shadows, in May of 2026 with tours of Japan with the Black Crowes, select US shows with Chapterhouse, and an EU tour scheduled for October.
