Jayne Pomplas

About Jayne Pomplas

Jayne Pomplas is a fiddle player, vocalist, and composer creating original work at the intersection of Irish traditional music, folk song, and contemporary experimental sound. Known for her virtuosic playing and distinctive voice, she delivers performances that are both intimate and electrifying. Her work blends folk lyricism with cinematic textures and a fearless creative instinct, pushing the boundaries of modern folk.

Her recording work honours tradition while moving confidently into new sonic territory through improvisation, rich arrangements, and emotionally resonant songwriting. Rooted in the New York Sligo fiddle tradition, she studied under Brian Conway and Tony DeMarco and later trained at Ithaca College School of Music, bringing technical precision to her playing.

She has performed and recorded with internationally renowned artists including The Chieftains, Frankie Gavin, David Keenan, Fin Furey, Francesco Turrisi, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Lunatraktors, Dan Hawkins, Mik Pyro, Jaz Delorean, Patrick Stefan, Bricknasty, and Ron Block, as well as experimental collectives such as Acid Granny. She has also opened for Vieux Farka Touré
